Hi all! I have to make a correction to the last update. I said the bilirubin was normal and it was normal but back at the beginning of January. What had been happening since then, and why we rushed to get a biliary exchange, was that one of the drains was a bit blocked. So, when we went to the ER on 1/29/24 because of high fevers they tested him and his bilirubin was up to 2.6 (normal is below 1.3) also liver levels went high. He was treated with antibiotics for the infection and went in for the drain exchange on 2/9/24. He’s been having the uncomfortable symptoms of high bilirubin: all over itching, yellow skin, lack of appetite, brain fog, weakness, GERD, and insomnia. The GERD has improved so that is good.
He also developed a rash around his left drain and so we got to see our Primary Care Physician locally. She said it was a yeast infection and got us set up with a cream for that.
He had a blood test on Monday, the 12th, and not only was the bilirubin higher (up to 3.6) but his liver levels had gone even higher than they were at the end of January.
The doctors are saying to get tested again next Monday to see if the blood tests go in a favorable direction. What fun! Never a dull moment here. Also to make things especially exciting I, Sarah, had a hip go out. (Probably from an ice slip and fall a month ago) and I can barely walk! Haha! I am hobbling around and we are just kind of helping each other the best we can.
So yeah: prayers would be great! Healing all the way around. The great graciousness of God filling every circumstance and leading us perfectly forward.
