The last official update was 11 days ago. Since then, I sent a quick email update letting y’all know that he was able to get the drains exchanged right there at the hospital and it happened on Tuesday the 28th. I was able to bring him home that same evening. That was really the best of possible outcomes as we didn’t have to drive to Portland and blockages were likely causing some of the problems. Thankful. We are looking into possibly using local interventional radiologists in the future.
Since then, it has been a slow but definite recovery. By Sunday he had perked up considerably. This week he spent hours writing a new story. It has been posted. I highly recommend this one!
Michael just finished the 2 oral antibiotics he was on. Yesterday and today he has been outside doing some yardwork and the glow of life has returned to his eyes.
I have been remembering that one year ago he was in the hospital bed in our living room in the process of dying. It was the plan and he was onboard. I was, of course, overwhelmed and grieving, so I kind of missed how beautiful the spring is around here. We are both enjoying spring this year. Going outside and weeding whenever we can and growing vegetables and blueberries and strawberries.
Also, we are both excited that John, Amanda, Anaiah and Isaiah will be staying with us from June 18- July 9th! Lots to look forward to!
