It has been 10 days since the last update. As you know it has been a busy time health-wise.
Picking up where we left off on 5/19/24 the doctor put Michael on another oral antibiotic since there was another UTI. He then had low energy for the next 2 days. He started feeling better on the 23rd and 24th. We even had an outing to do blood tests together. (I needed to do some also.) Then we walked in the park and crossed the bridge to a local market area and had lunch out.
Then on Friday the 25th another fever started, he was still on antibiotics. The fever was higher and he got the shakes. We knew we had to go to the ER. He got admitted to Mckenzie Williamette Medical Center hospital Saturday night late.
He does have a blood infection and is still on IV antibiotics today (Monday). He is still being observed. On Saturday, the ER doc talked to Kaiser docs and they decided he needed to have his drains exchanged asap since his bilirubin had gone up and this may be a biliary tract infection so they put him on no food or drink. Once he was in the hospital the doctor on duty sat down with Michael and told him the Interventional Radiologists at the hospital did not want to mess with his drains and he should keep his Friday appointment in Portland for the exchange. They said the CT scans looked good and there shouldn’t be a problem. His bilirubin did go down the next day so that is a good sign.
So that doctor on duty felt bad about Michael not getting to eat for a couple of days, so even though the cafeteria was closed he got him a ham sandwich from the cafeteria fridge. Then later he brought him a bacon cheese burger with fries and fried chicken with fries! So sweet! Michael ate what he could. Later the doctor said he was checking to see how he would digest that. He did fine.
We have no idea what is going to happen next. Pray for a perfect leading and good physician support on all fronts. And pray for a strong immune system!
During this stressful time I wrote something. Please check it out on the story page: Facing the Fire.
